Too many of us are living in the past. We are so caught up in memories that are only lingering around because we allow them to keep pestering our future. Nobody is perfect and we all have faults. As we continue to build an everlasting relationship with the Lord, we will find that the more we live a life with the Lord as our center, the more we will want to shed regret for our past transgressions. To truly have an everlasting relationship with the Lord, you must let go of old regrets that keep you from truly confessing your sins.
Do not allow guilt to stop you from allowing God to create a life for you that you deserve. God doesn’t sit around tallying up your mistakes. He wants us to come to him and ask for a clean heart. In 1 John 1:9 it states, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Don’t feel that you should maintain the negative emotions that are tied to memories of past transgressions. Further, really letting go of regret means to let go of the emotions, the actions, the impact, the guilt, and the consequences that stem from the situation that is causing you regret.
The Lord can be your comforter when you feel that your past is keeping you from living the life that you want. Use the events from your past that are troubling you and let go and learn. We can learn from our previous transgressions by allowing the hurt feelings to escape. And challenge the previous thoughts we had about ourselves. In addition, allow the Lord to heal you and you will find that not only your relationship with the Lord will improve, but you will find that you will focus more on what you are expecting in your future rather than what you have dealt with in the past.
Your past transgressions should not dictate how you are living your life now. Allow the Lord to be your center. You will find that your guilt will diminish and the faults that you have allowed to run their course will stop immediately. You are worthy of allowing yourself to move on. Focus on what really matters. Create a life that you deserve and following the path that the Lord our Savior had provided for you.
Let go of the guilt, those moments that you feel have stopped you in your path. Let go of past mistakes and step into a life that you have wanted. Be Blessed!
